In this episode of On The Back Bar Podcast, Chris talks to Ivy Mix, the head bartender and owner of Leyenda, a cocktail bar in Brooklyn, New York.
She is the co-founder of Speed Rack, a competition created by and for female bartenders that benefits breast cancer research and awareness, and she has won a number of awards including being named "American Bartender of the Year" at the 2015 Tales of the Cocktail's Spirited Awards.
With the upcoming release of her new book, 'Spirits of Latin America', I had the pleasure to talk to Ivy to understand the story behind writing it. Spread over 256 pages with over 100 stunning photos, the book is separated into three sections agave, sugarcane, and grape. We talk about her love of South America, how her award-winning Brooklyn bar Leyenda is coping with the crisis, and also how Ivy is fighting for a stabilization fund to support the restaurant and bar trade in the states.
